Post 18 - NFL Uniform Power Rankings
Hello! And welcome to my corner.
Though the draft is coming up, there is very little significant news to report. The only stories floating about are rumors, so how about something more interesting?
Everyone loves a ranking, it's an opportunity to really show an opinion and they're a great way to start a discussions, so, without further ado, here is my 32-team uniform ranking:
The 'Christian Ponder's' Uniforms:
32. New York Jets
31. Tennessee Titans
These uniforms are about as good as Ponder is as a QB. I really don't like these uniforms. The Jets use the worst shad of green (fluorescent green would be an upgrade) and the design is boring. Nothing makes up for the colour. They also have very little room for mixing and matching. My problem with the Titans is that I don't like the combination of colours. I really don't like the light blue with dark blue look. If they stuck with the Houston Oilers uniforms they wouldn't find themselves this low.
The 'Geno Smith's' Uniforms:
30. St. Louis Rams
29. Houston Texans
28. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Like Geno Smith, none of these uniforms do anything for me. There isn't anything about them that makes me hate them but there isn't anything that makes me like them. The Rams colours look odd together and I'm not a huge fan of design. I actually prefer the Rams throwback uniforms to their regular uniforms. I'm also not a huge fan of the Texans uniforms, especially the all red. And the Buccaneers, in my eyes, have downgraded from their previous uniforms. Im not a huge fan of the digital clock numbers and I don't like the kinda browny-grey highlights and pants. The helmets aren't too bad though!
The 'Andy Dalton's' Uniforms:
Like Geno Smith, none of these uniforms do anything for me. There isn't anything about them that makes me hate them but there isn't anything that makes me like them. The 'Andy Dalton's' Uniforms:
27. Philadelphia Eagles
26. Atlanta Falcons
25. Arizona Cardinals
24. Cleveland Browns
23. Buffalo Bills
Like Dalton, anything above these uniforms are nice, and anything below is rubbish. These uniforms are all okay I guess, but they all have 1 thing that keeps them out of the two lower groups. The Eagles all black jerseys (and pants) are definitely their nicest uniform, I don't like the green. The Falcons and Cardinals both have black alternate uniforms whcih make up for their average uniforms. The Browns ave totally changed their look, and I don't mind it. I'm not a huge fan of the brown options and I don't like the way 'Cleveland' is written across the front of the jerseys. But I like the Orange pants with white jersey or vice versa. The best way I can describe the Bills uniforms is fine.
The 'Alex Smith's' uniforms:
22. San Diego Chargers
21. Detroit Lions
20. New Orleans Saints
19. Denver Broncos
18. New England Patriots
17. Jacksonville Jaguars
All of these uniforms are nice, I just think there is one or two things about them that just pull them down. I think the Chargers should ditch the dark blue jerseys and stick to the powder blue jerseys. The Lions, Saints, Broncos and Patriots all have the same general problem to me; I feel like something is missing, I can't really put my finger on it I just think they're nice, no more, no less. The Jags, I love their uniforms but I hate their helmet. It looks like vomit. I like the matte aspect of it but make it all gold or all black, don't merge them.
The 'Flacco's and Eli Manning's' Uniforms:
16. Minnesota Vikings
15. Green Bay Packers
14. Kansas City Chiefs
13. Indianapolis Colts
12. Cincinnati Bengals
11. Carolina Panthers
10. Washington Redskins
9. San Francisco 49ers
Like Joe Flacco and Eli Manning, these uniforms can be argued to be both 'elite' and 'not elite'. I think they're just about not elite. They are all very nice and have certain elements that I love. Particularly the Bengals', Panthers' and 49ers' alternate uniforms. The 49ers shot up the ranking when they released their all black uniforms, I really do love them.
The 'Tom Brady's and Peyton Manning's' Uniforms:
8. Chicago Bears
7. New York Giants
6. Oakland Raiders
5. Baltimore Ravens
4. Seattle Seahawks
3. Miami Dolphins
2. Dallas Cowboys
1. Pittsburgh Steelers
These uniforms are the royalty of the NFL. Barring the Seahawks, these are all the traditional, classic looks that never get old. They are all clean looks, they just look good whether they are at home, away or if they are in their alternates. For all it kills me to put the Steelers at number 1, but they are so nice.
