Post 10 - The second wave of free agency is upon us. Who should we keep an eye on?

Hello! And welcome to my corner.

Most of the big names are off the market, the huge contracts have been signed and lots of teams are now focusing on the draft. However, there are a lot of guys still on the market, with plenty to give for any team who comes calling. The Ravens still have many needs, here are the guys I think are at least worth a look.

At this point, following the resigning of Justin Forsett and loss of Torrey Smith, receiver is our biggest need. Most of the big name receivers are gone, the only receivers raked in Around the NFL's Top 101 Free Agents list are Michael Crabtree, Dwayne Bowe, Greg Jennings, Hackeem Nicks and Denarius Moore. Of course, there are more than 5 receivers, but I only see a few that are worth a look. That said, I think any of these players would only be a filler for a year or two whilst younger guys develop.

 Hackeem Nicks
Down the stretch last year, Nicks showed glimpses of his old self. I think that he could function as a teacher for the younger guys and would be a backup to Steve Smith and hopefully someone like Jaelen Strong or Breshad Perriman etc.

Mike Williams
Mike Williams is yet to reboot his career after a promising rookie year in which he caught 65 passes for 964 yards and 11 touchdowns. He has since been traded to the Bills and then released after failing to find a trade partner. I think, if he finds his old form, he could be a good number 2 this year.

Greg Jennings
Jennings, recently cut by the Vikings, is certainly on the downside of his career and never looked as good for the Vikings as he did with the Packers. He has a longer track record than the two previous guys and would provide the younger guys with another experienced veteran to partner Steve Smith.

Wes Welker
I'm not actually serious about Welker, he is clearly not the same player he once was following two injury filled (primarily concussions) seasons with the Broncos. But, he's my boy, I love him, I'd love to be able to get a "Welker, 83" Ravens jersey!

Tight end is probably our second biggest need at this point. Daniels is gone, Pitta's future is uncertain after two devastating hip injuries so we are left with two young guys, Crockett Gilmore and Phillip Supernaw, who both have lots to prove. Annoyingly, the free agency class sucks. The only guy I can see coming in and providing help for younger guys, and also providing a security blanket for a year, tops, is Zach Miller

Zach Miller
Miller was released by the Seahawks on March 6th, following a failed physical with an ankle injury that kept him out for the last 13 games of the season. The ex-Pro Bowl tight end hasn't really had the opportunity to show what he can do as a pass catcher consistently in Seattle's run heavy offense. I think he could serve the 'veteran backup' role that Daniels filled last year very well. And he won't effect our compensatory picks as he was released.

We also need a backup QB. We do have Keith Wenning and Bryn Renner (both rookies from last year) on our roster, however their inexperience makes it difficult for us to just hand one of then the clipboard. For the same reason, it would be stupid to waste a pick on a rookie in this years draft, leaving us with only free agents.

Jordan Palmer
Palmer makes the most sense as he played for Trestman in Chicago 2 years ago and parts of last season. He also has a lot of experience, he'll be 31 by training camp. He'd be a suitable backup whilst also helping the younger guys with the playbook.

Tim Tebow
Why Tim Tebow? Because it's Tim Tebow. That is all.

I have recently started writing for Ebony Bird on FanSided, which is dedicated to the Ravens. So, from now on I will try to cover more than just the Ravens. If there is ever anything in particular you want me to write about please let me know. Send me a message on Facebook, drop me a tweet or comment on here and I will try to accommodate as many requests as possible.
