NFL Week 4 observations

Image
Week 4 of the NFL season is one game away from its end, meaning 28 teams are now through the first quarter of their season. By this point all the rust should have been knocked off and we can start to get some real takeaways from each team. With that being the case, what were my main observations from this weekend’s action? The Buffalo Bills are a legitimate playoff contender I’d be lying if I said I expected to be saying this, but Sunday’s loss to the Patriots showed how talented most of this team is. It may not have been Brady and Co.’s finest day, but that’s in large part thanks to a very stout Bills defense. This defense is playing very good, sound football on all three levels and gave the Patriots’ offense all sorts of problems. In fact, take away a blocked punt returned for a touchdown and the Bills would have won this game, thanks to the defense. The issue for the Bills is their offense. Yes, they were playing the best defense in the NFL, but Josh Allen still h...

NFL Week 3 Power Rankings

Image
Week 3 of the NFL season is over and that means one thing: Power Rankings! There was plenty to talk about this week as we saw QB changes, blowouts, comebacks and of course we saw a Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker miss an important field goal. With that action came plenty of change to my Power Rankings. The Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills are the biggest risers, improving five and four spots respectively, and the San Francisco 49ers cracked the top ten. Meanwhile four teams dropped three spots and there was a shakeup in the top six. So, without further ado, here are my Week 3 Power Rankings: 1. New England Patriots (3-0) The Patriots are yet to give up a touchdown to an offense… The last offensive touchdown scored against them was the Chiefs in the AFC Championship game. That’s outrageous. Add to the fact the offense looks like it can score whenever it wants, however it wants, and this Patriots team is possibly the scariest it has been in a few years. 2. Kansas City Chiefs (3-0)...

NFL Week 3 observations

Image
There’s just one game left in Week 3 of the NFL, so with 15 games behind us it’s time for my main observations from the weekend’s action. Let’s get right into it. Kyle Allen may be better for the Panthers, right now, than Cam Newton Hear me out on this one. I’m not saying Kyle Allen is a better QB or player than Cam Newton, there is not nearly enough evidence to go that far. However, Allen has now started two games and had meaningful action in a third, and it is hard not to like what we have seen. Today especially, he displayed the ar m talent that made him such a high recruit out of high school and made him start ahead of Kyler Murray at Texas A&M. He showed he was capable of running the Panthers' offense comfortably and successfully. In his two starts the Panthers have scored 68 points and he is 35/54 (64.8%) for 489 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions. He's also added a rushing touchdown. Admittedly he hasn’t faced the toughest opposition, but what...

Jalen Ramsey trade: Where will the Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback end up?

Image
Are NFL players on their way to wielding a lot power? After Antonio Brown seemingly forced his way off the Raiders it looked it, then Minkah Fitzpatrick got his way in forcing a trade, and now Jalen Ramsey seems to be next, so it certainly seems it.  It was first reported Fitzpatrick had requested a trade last week, before the Dolphins played the Patriots, and now he’s a Pittsburgh Steeler, a win for both him and the Steelers. Possibly buoyed by Fitzpatrick’s successful trade request, Ramsey handed his own in after the Jaguars loss to the Texans this week, since citing issues with the front office and not the team or players, and it seems the Jags Thursday night win over the Titans may be his last for the Florida team. Reports suggest the Jaguars are after at least one first round pick, and in reality want two first round picks to part ways with their All-Pro. That being the case, where could he end up? Here are my five most likely destinations (in no particular order): ...

NFL Week 2 observations

Image
The NFL season is back and in full swing – thank god – and with it it’s time to get cracking with more content. As always there is plenty to talk about each week, or even each day – I’m looking at you, AB – so I’m going to be breaking down my main observations from each week of NFL action. 1. Lamar Jackson may just be it: Of course, there is no shortage of people who are willing to accept this, as they’ll be claiming they said this from the moment he was drafted, or even earlier. I have to admit I was skeptical right up to the start of this season. Though it’s important to consider the level of competition he has faced so far this season, the tape doesn’t lie. Jackson is thriving right now and clearly made huge strides this offseason. Against the Dolphins he did exactly what he had to almost every time of asking, and this weekend against the Cardinals he, by and large, did the same, especially when the Ravens needed it most. He seems to have great chemistry with Marquise B...

Week 2 NFL Power Rankings

Image
Seeing as everybody loves NFL Power Rankings I figured it's only right that I start putting mine out for everyone to see, rather than just talking to a few people about it.  Week 2 of the NFL provided plenty of drama, as always. From the Broncos and Bears taking it down to the last second, to the Patriots embarrassing the Dolphins in a way I haven't seen since last week, let's have a look at the NFL Power Rankings going into Week 3:  1. New England Patriots (2-0) This shouldn’t be surprising. This week’s game may have been against the Dolphins, but it doesn’t stop the fact the Pats have outscored opponents 76-3. The defense is balling, and, as far as the football is concerned, Antonio Brown on this team is as bad news for the rest of the league as we expected. 2. Los Angeles Rams (2-0) The Rams only had to face Drew Brees for less than a quarter, but they ultimately, convincingly, beat the Saints – even if it did take another very poor refereeing decision....
