NFL Week 7 Power Rankings

Image
We’re onto Week 8 of the 2021 NFL season after a wild Week 7 which, while not providing a plethora of closely contested matchups, gave several shocking results which continue to shape the murky landscape of the NFL. Most impressively, the Cincinnati Bengals and Tennessee Titans left Week 7 with huge wins over playoff rivals, asserting themselves as true contenders in a crowded AFC. While in the NFC, the top five teams feel significantly ahead of the rest of the conference as we head into November. Parity continues to reign in the NFL, as virtually every team flips flops between looking like an elite team and one riddled with issues. Read on to see my take on how the league stands heading into Week 8. 1.        Arizona Cardinals (7-0) It took a little while for Arizona to get going against the Houston Texans thanks to an aggressive and effective pass rush. It didn’t end up mattering as the Cardinals ultimately cruised to victory. Zach Ertz’s early returns su...

NFL Week 6 Power Rankings

Image
Another week down, and another one on the way, the NFL season is rolling along at its typical furious pace. Now a third of the way through the regular season, teams are settling into their true identities. Some teams are finding an extra level, while others are slumping down even further. Week 6 saw plenty of shifting, with a new team in the top five and a surprise team at number 10. Read on to see the rest of my NFL Week 6 Power Rankings. 1.        Arizona Cardinals (6-0) +1 The Cardinals are really rolling. They’re playing very physical football and aren’t showing any signs of slowing down no matter the opponent. It’s impressive how well they’re playing at every position - and how well they played without Kliff Kingsbury on Sunday. This team has an excellent vibe, and I expect to see them continue on this trajectory. 2.        Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-1) +1 The final score wasn’t as one-sided as the game called fo...

NFL Week 5 Power Rankings

Image
Can we get the Ravens in primetime every week? Not because I am a Ravens fan, but because they have yet to produce anything short of madness in three primetime games this season. Their victory over the Indianapolis Colts emphatically brought to a close a pretty wild week in the NFL. Kickers had a weekend to forget, missing 13 extra points and 12 field goals, the NFL International Series returned, and we saw a passing of the guard in the AFC. Week 5 had all the drama we could ask for, so how does it all impact my Power Rankings? Read on to find out. 1.        Buffalo Bills (4-1) +1 The Bills went into Arrowhead and gave the Kansas City Chiefs the treatment they have been inflicting on the rest of the AFC for four years. It was a hell of a performance in an almighty spot. It was the snatching of a crown if I’ve ever seen one. This is the team to beat. 2.        Arizona Cardinals (5-0) -1 Kliff Kingsbury has guided the...

NFL Week 4 Power Rankings

Image
The Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders brought an end to Week 4 with an ultimately disappointing Monday Night Football matchup. Nevertheless, we got to enjoy another weekend of football, so we can’t complain too much. There has been another change in the top three, with two new teams occupying the top two spots. Week 1 already feels like such a long time ago, as the landscape of the NFL has already dramatically shifted. So, without further ado, check out my NFL Power Rankings heading into Week 5. 1.        Arizona Cardinals (4-0) +6 It is pretty hard to make a case against the Cardinals being the number one team in the NFL. Their first three wins came to varying degrees of impressiveness, but this week they comfortably dispatched their division rival LA Rams. The big-play threat from multiple players is incredible, and the defense is playing such good football on all three levels. This is a very good team, capable of striking quickly against a...
