NFL Week 16 Power Rankings

Image
Here we are, folks. We’re just one week away from the final playoff picture having been painted, as Week 16 has come to a close.  Heading into Week 17 there are a plenty of potential outcomes riding on the final game week of the season. The AFC playoff picture dictates that a 10-win team will miss out on the playoffs, while in the NFC there will be an at-least-nine-loss division champion, with potential for an 8-8 team sneaking in, too.  With so many questions left to answer for the 2020 regular season, how is the power balance looking heading into the final week of the season?  1. Kansas City Chiefs (14-1) Once again the Chiefs made it a lot more difficult than it needed to be, but once again they came through when they needed it to secure a win. The win also clinched them the number one seed in the AFC, meaning the path to the Super Bowl in the AFC officially runs through Kansas City.  2. Green Bay Packers (12-3)  The Packers are just a game away from the ...

NFL Week 15 Power Rankings

Week 15 has come and gone with the usual amount of drama, intrigue, and action. Across the NFL there were upsets, one of which was truly shocking, tense and close divisional matchups, comeback wins, and a good number of blowouts just for good measure. It had it all as the playoff picture continued to clarify heading into the final two games of the regular season. So, with just 120 minutes of football left for each team, how has the power shifted after 14 games played? 1.        Kansas City Chiefs (13-1) The wins may be close, but the Chiefs are getting it done week after week, and if they get the ball to seal out a win there is no doubt they will. All the talk around the Chiefs is which team is best equipped to beat them. In truth, there is no specific ‘way’ to beat them, or ‘set up’ to beat them, you just have find a way to stop that new play they inevitably roll out when the time comes. 2.        Green Bay Packers (...

NFL Week 14 Power Rankings

Image
If nothing else, Week 14 can be remembered for giving us the game of the season. Monday Night Football was an all-time great between the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens, and was hopefully a precursor for the final months of the NFL season. It truly felt like a playoff game, and in the final three weeks of the season we have many playoff-like matchups to look forward to. While we have a fairly clear picture of the teams who are legitimately in contention, there are many questions to be answered ahead of the playoffs, and I can’t wait to find the answers. So, heading into the final three weeks of the season, here are my Week 14 Power Rankings. 1.        Kansas City Chiefs (12-1) Even on a day Patrick Mahomes throws three interceptions, the Chiefs still put up 30+ points and win a game. Kansas City were genuinely tested by the Dolphins throughout the game, but their quality ultimately won out. With teams around them faltering, the route to the Su...

NFL Week 13 Power Rankings

Week 13 has come and gone and we are officially into the final quarter of the 2020 NFL season.  Now just four games away from the playoffs, we have a pretty good view of the teams we'll be watching through January, it is just a case of finding the last few teams who'll fill out the playoff bracket. Can a team like the New England Patriots or San Francisco 49ers sneak in? Who will finish on top the NFC East? Can the Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Browns stay in the playoffs? With many playoff race matchups left to play, this month promises to be exciting.  Heading into the most pivotal month of the season, how is the power shared across the NFL?  1. Kansas City Chiefs (11-1) The Chiefs are somewhat making a habit of winning games in surprisingly close fashion, much like the Pittsburgh Steelers are. Still, they are winning the games, at least, rather than finding ways to inexplicably lose to teams they shouldn’t be. Is there much more to add about the quality of the Chief...
